Words of commiseration sometimes failed me as I heard your stories, and all I could do was to send out thoughts for a positive result. At other times, I babbled on out of sheer joy from sharing some of your achievements, and your hopes and plans for the future. Most overwhelming of all has been the love and affection you’ve shared with me. Honestly, I feel so privileged. And so I have written a short story for you, with my love.
My short story Shades is dedicated to a dear friend, Steve Harrison, a talented musician and creative who passed this year. His beautiful song ‘Christmas Carol’ is very special and I hope in some way my story will reach him on his journey.
My two central characters are orphans of a world to come. Brother and sister Zar and Mia are the last humans on earth’s crust (like we feel sometimes when things go wrong. Perhaps isolated and alone at what is for others the busiest time of the year.) The two children are my symbols of Hope in times of great distress.
Lastly, I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Take care of yourselves and I’ll look forward to posting to you all in 2018.
With all my love at Christmastime, Carol X
